Trista always ends up with a week long celebration of her birthday. She is really developing an unrealistic view of what a birthday is. We never have her actual birthday party on her birthday because it's Valentines Day and that just happens to be a busy day for most families. So, in lieu of the party we go to dinner, let her open a few presents, and build up to the big party day which usually occurs a week later.
In our family, on each person's birthday, the birthday girl/boy always picks a restraunt to go eat at. With Trista's birthday falling on Valentines Day we always try to make it an early dinner to avoid the crowds. Since Valentines Day was a Saturday this year we decided to make it an early lunch. Trista chose to eat at Chili's. We met my mom, Adam and Haleigh, and their kids there to start our day off.

After lunch we headed to the mall. Trista got to go on a mini shopping spree. She got to go pick out clothes on her own for the first time. We all know I'd be lying if I said I stood back and let her do it ALL on her own.
Kripsy Kreme Valentines Doughnuts made the perfect birthday treat.

Looks like fun, wish we could have been there to celebrate with everyone!
What a fun mom you are. I hear ya' about the birthday thing. My kids are spoiled rotten on their birthdays by family and friends for days before and after their b-days. IT is going to be a rude awakening when we move away.
